Like many young professionals, Luc Hartwick wants to make a difference through volunteer work but has found it a challenge knowing where to start. "Where do I get involved? How do I apply my skills?" he asks. 

His partner Melissa Hartwick has seen the issue from the other side. As Chair of Ontario's Heart & Stroke Young Leaders committee, she knows how difficult it can be for non-profits to attract volunteers to help fulfill their mission. 

"When the pandemic hit, any in-person volunteer opportunities disappeared," she notes. Not only did non-profits face a significant fundraising shortfall, but many were also left behind in the sudden pivot to digitization. 

So, when the couple found themselves at home during Ontario's provincial lockdown, they used their spare time to create 10,000 Hours.
