I neglected my annual Top 3 list of favourite projects, and was unable to pick just one word to sum up how I’m feeling about 2024. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing.

Making a living as a freelance copywriter isn’t as easy as some would have you believe. Being able to write clean, engaging copy is just the beginning.

If I’m a bit late with my Word of the Year, that’s because I wasn’t going to choose one. It just felt like it was time to do things differently, and frankly, I was struggling to find a single word that could sum up my hopes for 2023.

After 18 years in the writing business, I signed up for a travel writing course through Gotham City Writers. Because no matter where you are in your writing journey, there’s always room for improvement.

A few years ago, I decided that life is too short to be chained to a computer. Today, I clear my work schedule for at least two weeks each summer, and I don’t work weekends. Here are my tips for freelancers desperate to unplug.
